Frigid Fractals

A fractal is a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole. These photographs of ice crystals on a window emerged from my fascination with the ability of nature to create individual structures. Seeing and showing the beauty of frigid fractals is to reveal the beauty beneath the surface. To some they look like frozen ferns, but these are photographs of ice crystals that have formed on glass when the temperature and humidity were optimum. As the crystals grew, they branched out and formed fractals.
